Spotlight on the Santa Fe Federated Republican Women

SpotLight on a GOP group: SFFRW:

The Federated Republican Women’s groups are great organizations of women (and men too) that accomplish much in our communities.  Today, I want to encourage membership in the Santa Fe Federated Republican Women’s club.  They put out a great little publication called The Trumpeter that is an excellent example of what a little spit and polish can produce in a pdf document.  The SFFRW supports several charities at once such as their current fundraising for DogTagsForKids.com while also collecting items to support the Esperanza Shelter for Battered Families.   Membership dues for Republican women are $30 annually.  Men, students and women from other FRW clubs can be associate members for half that amount.  Make checks payable to SFFRW and mail to: Elaine Hausman, 18 Rockridge Rd, Cerillos NM 87010

TEA Party events to repeat on July 4th

Quick event note: TEA parties:

The American Family Association was a sponsor of the TEA Party rallies that were such a huge success.  I’m hearing from the AFA that there is a goal to repeat it with an American Freedom Day TEA party rally in twice as many communities on July 4th.  Will you be a part of this?  Sign up at www.teapartyday.com

You can be a Republican star

Ever wanted to be a STAR?:

The Republican Party of New Mexico wants you for their website.  This will be a brand new, fresh and fun look to the website that represents the GOP for our state.  If you can record a short piece on yourself (through a digital camera or through your computer), where you tell us who you are (name and city included) and why you are a Republican then you just might end up on the site.  Here’s the hard part: it needs to be a sound-bite only 10 to 15 seconds long.and a lot of us can’t focus on one brief message like that.  Of course, you can submit a clip for each point you want to make.  Multiple languages would be cool too.  E-mail your clips to Janel Causey at jcausey@gopnm.org

Conservative New Mexico Magazine “Salt & Light”

Conservative New Mexico Magazine:

Now that you’ve all gone off and subscribed to the New Mexico Breeze, the new conservative NM newspaper, here’s a little magazine you might want to check out.  The Salt & Light magazine is put out by New Mexico’s Body of Christ, an organization trying to network and unite Businesses, organizations, churches, events and fundraisers that endorse (or at least do not oppose) Christianity.  Although not all Republicans are Christians, most of these events and groups will be conservative and the GOP definitely could use some help networking with its own supporters.  The magazine will be adding a political section next.  So add the e-mail for Daniel Ruiz to your list, check out the events on their e-calendar and check out their magazine too: Daniel@newmexicosbodyofchrist.com

Republicans Running for office

Republicans Running for Office:

The GOP is all abuzz with the hope of getting some great people into city office in Albuquerque this fall and fabulous candidates for 2010 too.  We even have a few GOP candidates running against each other for City Council.  Exploratory committees are being formed and it looks like we’ll have at least two possible candidates who are strong Republicans for Governor next year.

Most of you know by now that I am not on the inner circle of GOP politics and that that is by choice.  Cindy’s List gives me the freedom to do what the party is suppose to be doing but sometimes doesn’t quite succeed at: supporting ALL Republicans running for any office (at least until after things like primaries take place).  It is up to the Republican voters, not me, to decide "viability".  The List will always also support ALL planks of the party platform too.  The day that I can’t support the majority of our platform will be the day I leave the party.  All events and candidates that agree with the GOP platform are welcome.

Cindy’s List will never have a pre-selected slate of personal candidates.  Every candidate who lets me know about their events in a timely manner will have those events posted.period.  Competition can make the party stronger if we don’t cut off our nose to spite our face.  Internal politics has been known to ruin us.  I realize it is important to push for whatever candidate one personally likes better but our party leaders need to be gently reminded once in a while that they are required by our own rules to publically support ALL Republican candidates.  We’ve succeeded in kicking ourselves pretty good in the past.  Let’s hope people will take off their leadership hats if it becomes necessary and not use their positions in an unfair manner.  On the other hand, the rest of us shouldn’t be paranoid and jump to conclusions and assume an officer or group is throwing their support behind one person over another.  Just ask for equal time.

Spotlight on the Republican Party of Santa Fe County

SpotLight on the Republican Party of Santa Fe County (RPSFC):

"The mission of the Republican Party of Santa Fe County is to engage existing Republicans, and register new Republicans to work together to elect Republican candidates at the local, state and federal levels through effectively communicating the values and benefits of our conservative principles."

The officers for the county of Santa Fe this year are: Chairman Jim Bohlander, First Vice Chair Benjamin Trujillo, Second Vice Chair Marta Nystrom, Treasurer JR Damron and Secretary Christine Williams.  In addition to these five, the Santa Fe State Central Committee is: Kerry Boyd, Rosina Boyd, Barbara Damron, Joanne Morrissey, Mary Ann Holdrege, Bruce Larsen, Aaron Moskowitz, Brigette Russell and William David.  I realize there are many really dedicated Republicans in the Santa Fe area working every week to help the GOP and each one is appreciated.  However, this month, give an extra pat on the back and a loud, verbal "thank you for serving" to the officers chosen to lead the county during a hard political year.  Contact Jim and volunteer to help on a committee that appeals to you:  jimbohlander@hotmail.com
